If you are simply looking for a power supply for your notebook, go ahead and buy this adapter. If you are assuming that this adapter should also charge your battery, think again. I have tried this adapter and another, similar one and neither of them is recognized by our Dell laptop. So neither of them will work for charging the laptop battery. It's irritating, but if you have the goal of actually using your laptop without the power cord, you will need to pony up the $60-$75 for a real Dell adapter. Don't waste your time on these $20 pretenders.
